Rescue me

On this Christmas day, may our thoughts not think about just a baby being born, but the Prince of Peace coming to rescue us from a life of war with sin.  Look at some of the more accurate English translations of the type of angels that joined in the celebration of Jesus’ birth – they were the armies of heaven announcing the good news of peace now that Jesus was born.

May we never lose sight of this rescue mission – the good news saving us, delivering us – making sure we stay on this road that God has charted for us – keeping us from the floods, from the hands of those who want nothing to do with God and who want nothing more than to see us fail, from slander, deceit, insincerity and being simply vain.

So we sing Christmas songs declaring that Jesus is our king – the giver of our salvation – rescuer of strangers.
