Have to admit that I was stunned to read this in Psalm 85 this morning. It reminded me instantly on a Christmas carol that I never saw a Bible connection in before until now —
“Sire, the night is darker now
And the wind blows stronger
Fails my heart, I know not how,
I can go no longer.”
“Mark my footsteps, my good page
Tread thou in them boldly
Thou shalt find the winter’s rage
Freeze thy blood less coldly.”
In his master’s steps he trod
Where the snow lay dinted
Heat was in the very sod
Which the Saint had printed
Therefore, Christian men, be sure
Wealth or rank possessing
Ye who now will bless the poor
Shall yourselves find blessing – Good King Wenceslas
God has given us so much favour, He has forgiven our sins and they are completely covered. There is no anger, there is only loving-kindness and salvation. He speaks peace into our hearts and we have matured into followers of Jesus.
The miracle is simply mercy and truth meeting each other and right living and His peace have kissed each other. Truth springs out and righteousness falls down from heaven. God gives that which is good and we prosper in these things.
No matter what we think or how we feel – it is His righteousness that goes out before Him and it is His footsteps that offer a way for us to walk in.
