Looking back is not good strategy, but remembering is always good.
I mean when God strikes down every single first-born in the land, when He leads you out of slavery on the journey towards home with as much loot as you can carry, when not one single family is lost and when those who are against you are scared of you – you want to remember those things.
Then you want to remember how personal God is too – spreads a cloud to keep you cool during the day, lights a fire to guide you through the night. When you pray, He answers, He provides everything you need and He remembers too – remembers His Covenant, His promise.
In return He wants us to remember one thing – do everything He tells you, follow His instructions with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and love your neighbour as yourself.
