How often have you been in a church setting where the leaders of worship – choir, vocalist, instrumentalist – have just finished a worship piece and there is no applause from the congregation? The setting is simple, ‘we have come to worship and will keep our applause not for the people serving but for our Lord’.
How often have you been in a church setting where the leaders of worship – lead you through song, prayer, worship, praise and for the finale, a burst of applause for the Lord? Just to make sure that the applause is known by all set apart for Him, our hands, raised in the air, clapping, and audible praise using words of extreme declarations of praise for His character come out from our souls to describe Him and bless Him.
If you are a rookie at this you will find that when it comes to audible praise of God, your vocabulary is pretty short. I try to teach my youth to come up with at least 26 different ways to describe and bless God by using a letter in the alphabet and then start all over again and try to come up with another 26 words at the next go around. Slowly our worship moved from one minute to 20 minutes.
God is stunning. He is Lord over the earth and deserves our best songs. Applause everyone.
